Hershey, Pa. — APEX gymnast Lucy Edmonds led the Level 6 team to a team title at the 25th Hug & Kiss Meet in Hershey, Pennsylvania on February 7-10. APEX also saw success at Levels 3 and 4, where they turned in third place team finishes. At Level 3, Brooke James, Alexis Scott and Annabella Stone won all-around titles. Leesburg, Va. — A trio of Loudoun athletes claimed individual titles at the VHSL Region 4C wrestling championships on February 9 at Heritage High School in Leesburg. Dominion High School junior Jack Creamer won the 113-pound weight class, while Woodgrove High School seniors AJ Bartling and Drew Oliver won the 220-pound and 160-pound weight classes, respectively. Sterling, Va. — The Riverside High Schools boy and girls swim teams combined to win eight individual championships en route to sweeping the team titles at the VHSL Region 4C championships on February 8 in Sterling. For the Rams boys, junior Otto Gerstl won the 100-yard freestyle, senior Jackson McCummings won the 50-yard freestyle and sophomore Robert Quan won both the 200-yard individual medley and 500-yard freestyle. Purcellville, Va. — Riverside High School freshman Marisa Cisneros swept the individual events en route to the all-around title at the VHSL Region 1-4A Championships at Woodgrove High School on February 8. Cisneros scored a 9.800 on vault, a 9.575 on bars, a 9.675 on the beam and a 9.650 on the floor exercise to edge out Woodgrove senior River Stone in the all-around, 38.700-37.975. South Riding, Va. — Freedom High School freshman Kelly Fangyen won three of the four individual events en route to the all-around title at the VHSL Region 5C gymnastics championships on February 5 in South Riding. Fangyen scored a 9.425 on bars, a 9.600 on the beam and a 9.375 in the floor exercise to edge out teammate Liliana Gines in the all-around by just .550 points. Sterling, Va. — Led by junior Abby Harter and sophomore Mackenzie McConagha, the Briar Woods High School girls swim team claimed the VHSL Region 5C championship on February 2 in Sterling. Harter won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke, while McConagha won the 100-yard butterfly. Both Harter and McConagha helped the Falcons win the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays.
