(June 16, 2015) – The VHSL 4A North region has selected its all-region team for baseball. Sherando High School senior Adam Whitacre was named Player of the Year. Fauquier High School head coach Matt O’Saben was named Coach of the Year.

So was the story of the VHSL 4A girls soccer state championship game as the Loudoun County High School Lady Raiders kept up the pressure on a staunch Heritage High School Pride defense. The Raiders fell behind 1-0 early, but dominated possession and peppered Pride stand out keeper Zoe Foxhall with shots on goal before catching a break scoring three goals and winning the state championship, 3-1, in Lynchburg on June 13.

If they weren’t, the coaches may not let them leave campus. Last year, the tandem led the Vikings to their first state championship in baseball since 1972. On June 12 of this year, they put them in position to do it again, earning a 6-0 win over Rustburg High School in a VHSL 3A state semifinal in Lynchburg.
