(March 24, 2016) — As high school student-athletes in Loudoun County make their decisions on what to do with their futures, many choose to continue pursuing an athletic career in college. LoCoSports is here to tell you about Life After Loudoun.

• Park View High School graduate Chris East (1985) led Millbrook High School to its third NCHSAA 4A state championship in girls basketball on March 12. After winning the state championships in 2012 and 2013, an early exit from the 2015 North Carolina High School Athletic Association state tournament set fire under the Wildcats who upset No. 1 Northwest Guilford in the 2016 state championship, 46-45, on a last second put back as time expired.
• Fellow Patriot graduate Bobby Mason (2012) tossed his first career shutout for the Chowan University baseball team on March 20 against Virginia State while picking up his first win of the season. The senior struck out six while allowing just one walk and five hits in rout to the 14-0 win. The Division II Hawks have a bit of a break before picking up their season on April 2 in North Carolina against Saint Augustine’s in hopes of improving on a 10-17 start.
• Potomac Falls High School graduate Brandon Orbe (2013) and Heritage High School graduate Lorenzo Calderon (2013) have the Marymount University baseball team off to its best start in school history at 15-9. Orbe is currently first on the team in hits (32), doubles (9) and on-base percentage (.465) and second on the team in batting average (.376), runs scored (18), home runs (2) and RBI (17). Calderon is currently first on the team in runs scored (22), triples (1), walks (14) and stolen bases (17) and third on the team in hits (24) and home runs (1). The Division III Saints are back in action on March 26 when they travel to Newport News to take on Christopher Newport in a two-game series.
• Broad Run High School graduate Andrew Seigel (2012) currently leads the Concord baseball team in average (.442), runs scored (24), hits (34), triples (3) and stolen bases (8). Seigel also leads the Mountain East Conference in runs scored, hits and stolen bases. The Division II Mountain Lions — who are currently 8-12 — are back in action on March 25 when they travel to Ohio for a doubleheader against Notre Dame College.
• After transferring from Bucknell, fellow Spartan graduate Kamille Larrabee (2014) is off to a solid start with the Jacksonville University softball team. As the Division I Dolphins sit at 16-17, Larrabee is batting .333 with a double, an RBI and five walks. Jacksonville is back in action on March 25 when they travel to Nashville to take on Lipscomb in a three-game series.
• Freedom High School graduate Matt Malacane (2012) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Week for the week on March 14. During the week, Malacane led Seton Hill to a 4-0 record by hitting .571 with four home runs, eleven RBI and six runs scored all while slugging 1.429. The Division II Griffins — who are currently 15-6 — are back in action on March 25 to start a four-game series with the California University of Pennsylvania.
• Fellow Eagle graduate Arianna Robinson (2014) has been named second team all-Pac-12 for her performance on the vault this winter. The University of California gymnast placed third at the Pac-12 championships on the vault with a score of 9.900. On April 2, Robinson and the Division I Golden Bears will compete in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional championships.
• Stone Bridge High School graduate Eleni Papadopoulos (2014) will represent Georgia Tech in the ESPN BattleFrog College Championships airing in June. The competition pins co-ed college teams against each other to see which turns in the best time on the ultimate obstacle course built by Navy Seals.
